Biography

My name is Sivenathi Mona. I come from the Eastern Cape, specifically East London, but I currently reside in Cape Town. I studied for a Diploma in Journalism at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2023, with the intention of completing my diploma in 2026.

 

I am looking forward to pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Journalism.  Last year, I formed the KAAPcast Media platform with my schoolmates to practice my profession as a journalist. I did podcasting, research, writing, photography, videography, editing and more. I am still active on that.

 

On the 4th of August, 2025, I started interning for Cape Town TV, where I got introduced to TV news shows and production, and Cape Town Daily. I learned how to write an anchor link for a TV news show and how to reach out to sources to confirm a story.

 

My initial focus before the internship was pop culture, entertainment, and music. As soon as I started interning, I covered broader themes of stories. I am very proud of the work I have done so far. ​
